What BPM means
BPM means beats per minute. At 120 BPM, a track has 120 counted beats in one minute, so one beat lasts 500 milliseconds. The conversion is 60,000 divided by BPM.
Read more than one tempo number
The rounded BPM is useful for quick sorting and beatmatching. Exact tempo keeps the decimal estimate, while half-time and double-time show two common ways the same pulse can be counted. Milliseconds per beat helps when setting delay or timing values.

Why a song can have more than one plausible BPM
A detector may follow a kick drum, hi-hat pattern or slower musical pulse. A track reported near 140 BPM may reasonably feel like 70 BPM in half-time. Tempo drift, quiet introductions, live performances and irregular meter can also make the estimate less stable.
Treat every result as a best-effort estimate. If the number does not match what you hear, try the half-time or double-time value, or use Tap Tempo to measure the pulse manually.
